Important Information for Volunteers

We want to ensure that your volunteer experience as a part of the MS HOPE Volunteer Team is one you will never forget!  It takes over 250 volunteers to make this event successful and we couldn't do it without you.  Your efforts to provide a top quality experience for our participants are very much appreciated by the Event Organizing Committee, MS Society staff, the participants, and our clients who benefit dramatically from the fundraising results.  Thank you for everything you do.

Below is some important information relating to your volunteer experience.  Please review it and let us know if you have any questions.

Training and Orientation

Each volunteer will receive a Volunteer Confirmation Letter and Event Handbook which includes general information about the event like how to get there, where to check in, what to bring, where to park, etc.  All volunteers will receive training at the event upon checking in to your volunteer area.  Training time is built into the position timeframe listed on your volunteer confirmation letter/email.  Training will be provided by your area supervisor who you will meet on event weekend.

Accommodation at Shawnigan Lake School

Due to the limited number of beds available at Shawnigan Lake School we are unfortunately unable to provide dorm accommodation to volunteers because we must accommodate participants first.  If you are volunteering for both days you are more than welcome to camp at Shawnigan.  Campers do have access to washrooms and showers in the nearby gym facility.  Alternatively there are several comfortable B&B's in the area, just click here to view information on accommodation options in the Cowichan Valley.

Please contact Ashley at ashley.hodgins@mssociety.ca if you would like to camp at Shawnigan Lake School.

Invitation to Evening Festivities

All volunteers are invited to join us at 8:00pm after the participant dinner at Shawnigan to take part in the evening festivities.  Please come and enjoy the beverage tent, silent and live auctions, music, and dancing!
